The Temple of Bacchus in Baalbek, Lebanon

The Temple of Bacchus in Baalbek, Lebanon was constructed in the middle of the 2nd century BC. It is called the Temple of Bacchus, the god of fertility and good cheer mainly because a number of its sculptured reliefs have been interpreted as scenes from childhood of this god. It is the best-preserved Roman temple in the world, and measures 69 meters long by 36 meters wide, and is surrounded by 42 columns. columns 19 meters in height.
