The design of the urban environment is an element of comprehensive planning for towns and cities of all sizes. An issue in urban design is that of design of the public right of way. The following is one example of how one city has preserved a unique element of its street design.
During
a trip to Pittsburgh, Pa., our President visited the Shady Side neighborhood
to see the famous Roslyn Street mentioned by Allan Jacobs in his Great Streets text. Click on the image below to see photos
of this unique street.
Our President has been a lecturer
at the Texas Leadership
Institute before elected and appointed officials on planning
topics including leadership development, needs assessment, strategic
and comprehensive planning, diversity training, economic development
and downtown development.
He is also a former
public high school mathematics teacher.
